April - One Crazy Month!

Well, things have been going well in the life of the Govier’s. This post will encompass so many different events that have been going on in our world, in short – April was a crazy month.

First, I have to tell a few Josh stories - he has been full of interesting moments lately that keep Tim and I laughing. First, for those who did not get the email from Tim – Josh is learning to spell his name and he is amazed with the letter “J”. One morning I received an email from Tim asking if I had removed the J from his laptop … my response, “ummm, gee honey, no … I just have not found the time to remove a letter from your laptop – what? huh?” Anyway, after talking to Josh we put everything together and Josh had pried-off the letter “J” while getting his breathing treatment the evening before! I can just picture the look of terror on his face when it actually popped off (LOL!) – he did his best to get it back on but managed to put it on upside-down.


Next, I went grocery shopping one day and put the toilet paper in the standard place (under the sink) and when I went into the restroom later that day, Josh had created a monumental toilet paper stack. What’s even really great is that since he is 3 and a very determined little boy, he was very proud of his creation and we HAD to keep it that way.

Tulsa also had a torrential downpour a few weeks ago – HOLY COW … the amount of rain was unreal! The pond behind our house got so full! Check out these pics! There is a trail that goes right behind our fence line that met the water – this trail is usually several feet away from the pond you see pictured. Luckily, our house actually sets pretty far up from the trail!

Okay, I just thought this picture was cute. This is one evening while Josh was getting his breathing treatment and he wanted to hang out with his little brother. They are just so sweet to each other!

My grandmother turned 80 on April 21st and we had a little celebration in her honor. We had family fly down from WI to celebrate and it was so nice to see them again!

One wild hair and we are off to Kansas City ...

Last Friday, April 25th was a beautiful day and Tim and I were just in the mood to get away and do something fun. You know, with gas prices sky rocketing - why not? So, we decided to go to Kansas City and visit one of my sorority sisters/college roommate. Sarah just had a little boy that is now 5 ½ months old – Tyler is so sweet and just a perfectly content baby! Anyway, we went to Legends for shopping & lunch. We ate at T-Rex where Josh made his own dinosaur and then we were off the the Carter's Outlet (which I love by the way!). We also went to a park that evening and just enjoyed catching up with some dear friends.

Key Personnel turns 30.

The company I work for celebrated their 30th anniversary today. We all dressed up in 70's gear and surprised our owner with a little celebration. The 1970's flashback was really fun. This is a picture of my friend, Stacy, and I in our 70's attire. Rock on, baby ... look at that fro and Stacy's outfit was just priceless! LOL!

It is official; Owen Gregory Govier was baptized on Sunday, April 13, 2008. He actually did quite well, although he did not care too much for the holy water being poured over his head and that we were interfering with his naptime! After the baptism, our pastor walked Owen around and met the congregation as everyone sang a song “Owen, Owen, God Loves You …” It was very sweet!

Owen has a tremendous support network! I just want to send a special thanks to everyone who came - we appreciate your love and support as we welcomed Owen into Christ’s family.

Sweet & Sassy – Avery’s 6th Birthday Party

Saturday, April 5th was Avery’s 6th Birthday (Josh & Owen’s Cousin). Avery had a great girl party at Sweet and Sassy in Edmond. All the girls got their hair done and dressed up like princesses – then they walked the runway and were introduced as a princess, crowned and sprinkled with pixy-dust. Wow … the girls loved it!

Josh was a little taken back with the all girl explosion - he was in search for mud, bugs or something BOY! To get Josh to participate, Tim and I bought him a knight costume and he was introduced as a prince - it was quite the sceen.

I will admit that I did, for a moment, think about dressing him up as a princess. Man, that would have made a priceless picture! he he he .. I know, I know … I am an evil mom!

Sesame Street Live: When Elmo Grows Up

We decided to surprise Josh with tickets to Elmo on Friday, March 25. Tim and I picked Josh and Owen up from school and we headed back into Tulsa for the show. Josh really didn’t have a clue what we were doing and then Elmo and Big Bird came out … Josh’s mouth dropped and he started waving – it was adorable! Then he turned and asked “are we at Disney World?” He is just too precious! Owen liked the lights but really seemed annoyed with the noise. However, he did well at the show – we just gave him a bottle and he was fast asleep after intermission.

Easter Weekend 2008

The Govier Boys

I am so excited! Some of our friends have a blog and it is an amazing way to keep friends and family in the loop. I love checking out their blog and just seeing what is going on in their world and how their sweet baby, Marshall, is doing each week. Thank you Chris and Jane for the idea!

Josh and Owen had a pretty busy Easter weekend. We celebrated with the Govier family on Saturday and the Spencer family on Sunday. It was like Halloween with the amount of candy that Josh collected over the 3 Easter Egg hunts he participated in - amazing, simply amazing! I should make a dentist appointment now!

Before the Easter experience began, I, being the bright & intelligent person that I am, scheduled pictures for Spring Break/Easter weekend. OMG! I am nuts! I have learned an important lesson - NEVER do that again! It was packed - full of children in their Sunday best. The appointments were running 1 hour behind and with an infant that is just a recipe for disaster. Owen was cranky and not in the mood for pictures. Josh took some great pics! However, like my good friend Becky constantly says "this was them at this time" and "this is how they should be captured". I am thrilled we captured the moment and I am equally thrilled that this experience is finished!

In the life of our children ...

Owen is now 12 weeks and he really started smiling & interacting with us a lot this week. I love it! He also started reaching for his toys and batting at all the toys that hang down from his car seat. I have been told that colic outgrows between 10-12 weeks and that one day you will just wake up to a new and un-cranky baby. Well, I think we had that moment on Monday. He has been much happier and not fussy since Monday and I cannot tell you how happy Tim and I are that we seem to have outgrown that challenging experience. For all the parents who have had a colicy child, I am sure you understand.

Josh is such a terrific kid. He constantly amazes me with what he learns each day. He brought home two pictures this week - one looked like a stained glass and he was only allowed to color in the toothbrush and toothpaste in the mix of all the other shapes - the next picture was six fire hydrant's and he was only allowed to color the fire hydrant's that had the number 12 in them - well, he did great! I am just constantly impressed with him. He is now learning to write his name, he is not there yet, but he can recognize his name if he sees it. Josh loves being a big brother! Josh thinks Owen is pretty great and he is such a big helper. Anytime I ask him to entertain Owen for a minute or get me a diaper he is more than happy to lend a helping hand. I am very pleased with Josh's transition into having to share our time with a sibling. I know this will not last, but for now - Tim and I will savor and enjoy these moments!
